ROCOCO
The Rococo art style period originated in Paris, France and eventually spread to Northern Europe in the early 18th century. Its period began after the French king, Louis XIV, demanded for more youthful art to be produced under his reign in 1699. It was during the late Baroque period when artists began to shift away from the intensity of the dark and dramatic Baroque paintings and into playful, light, and curvaceous forms. Thus the creation of Rococo art was made with its characteristics of lightness, elegance, and exuberant use of colors combined with intricate curvilinear shapes and beautiful backgrounds making this period one of the most beautiful times in European art history.
