NEOCLASSICISM
Neoclassicism was the main movement in western European art, architecture, literature, music, theater, and visual arts. Neoclassicism emerge late 18th and early 19th century. Neoclassicism started in Rome in the eighteenth Century and picked up traction, spreading over Europe because of artists would want to study in Italy and also the Grand Tours helped filter in different pieces of the world to Italy. The Neoclassical art movement quickly spread since it harmonized with the Age of Enlightenment in the 18th century. Once neoclassicism gained more attraction it would dominate the Rococo style.The main idea of neoclassicism was that art expressed the perfect ideals throughout everyday life. The architecture was based off of mathematics and symmetry which were also found in ancient Greece and Rome style. Neoclassicism characterized the use of bold and differentiating colors frequently in gatherings and in various scales. The painting and sculpture were more serious and had no emotion. Neoclassical painters portrayed style from classical writing and history, as utilized in prior Greek craftsmanship and Rome. There were tons of artist, sculpture, and architects during the neoclassicism period. An artist was Élizabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun, otherwise called Madame Lebrun or Madame Le Brun, who was a French painter and her imaginative style is based off of the Rococo style with components of an embraced Neoclassical style. A famous Italian sculptor would be Antonio Canov who would be known for his marble sculptures.
